The specific plan update team presented updated findings to both Planning Commission and City Council in recent study sessions. Following the series of public workshops, these study sessions were more collaborative conversations that engage with key details. Commissioners provided direct feedback, and members of the public were also invited to speak. Recordings and copies of the presentation are now available:

The project team presented a summary of the MPSP and DEIR to the community. The meeting was an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and leave comments on the draft plan.
Community Benefits/ Development Allocation Workshop
(October 18th, 6 pm, 2022)
The project team presented the community benefits that informed the draft policies to the City Council during a study session on October 18th. The presentation and discussion included the following topics: needs and improvements, development reserve and site master plan process, fiscal impact study, and community benefits framework.
Mobility Workshop
(September 20th, 6 pm, 2022)
The project team presented the mobility framework that informed the draft policies to the City Council during a study session on September 20th. The presentation and discussion included the following topics: modal priority, street network, ped/bike network, transportation improvements, parking strategy, and transit demand management.
Land Use Map and Density Workshop

The project team presented a proposed land use map to City Council during a study session on April 28th. A recording of the session is now available through the City of Sunnyvale City Clerk YouTube account.

Open Space and Ecology Workshop
(March 8, 2022)
Conceptual open space and urban ecology designs and proposals for Moffett Park were presented to City Council at a March 7 session. Included in this presentation were proposed open space types, details regarding urban ecology, and an overview of conceptual policies to preserve natural areas.

Planning Commission + City Council Hearings: Land Use Alternatives
(April 26, 2021) (May 25, 2021)
Two key hearings with the Planning Commission and City Council resulted in the approval of a land use alternative for Moffett Park. Following months of community engagement and additional research, the project team received confirmation to proceed with further analysis based on this approved alternative, which includes several million new square feet of commercial buildings, and 20,000 new residential units.

City Council Study Session
(March 30, 2021)
Building off the previous night’s Planning Commission session, this third study session complemented the land use discussion with a greater emphasis on open space, introducing a conceptual open space network composed of parks, plazas and linear pathways at the local and regional context. Updates on recently proposed projects were also highlighted.

Planning Commission Study Session

Planning Commission Study Session

Updates and early conceptual plans for the Moffett Park Specific Plan were reviewed by the Planning Commission on Monday, July 27 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Commissioners had the opportunity to react and respond to updates including guiding principles and land use configurations. Members of the public also shared their insights.

Community Workshop: Project Kick-Off
(February 12, 2020)
The City of Sunnyvale hosted its first Community Workshop for the Moffett Park Specific Plan Update on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Hosted at the Detati Digital Marketing offices at the center of Moffett Park, the workshop invited members of the community ranging from residents, property owners, and employees to engage with the City on a broad range of topics.
Approximately 68 participants attended the workshop. This first meeting followed several months of planning and studies by the City of Sunnyvale and project team.
